This is what we have been up to in Room 4 in Term 1:
At the start of the term Room 4 students co-constructed a class treaty. We worked really hard to think about how we can all work together to keep Room 4 students and the rest of the school safe, happy and engaged in learning. We then drew around our hands and signed them to show that we promise to support and follow our treaty.
Room 4's Treaty
We visited Waikato Museum on the 10th of March. Our first session was focused on colours and how they impact on pieces of art work. We had great fun with Sarah and the parent helpers while we learned more about primary colours, warm and cool colours and how these are used to change the "mood" of an art work.
Room 4 would like to say a HUGE thank you to the parents who joined us on this trip. On Monday the 22nd of March we were very lucky to have Mrs Rosewarne come to Room 4 and talk to us about fire safety and her role as part of the volunteer firefighting community.
These are some key points about what we learned:
Our sense of smell goes to sleep when we go to sleep
If there is a fire we "get down, get low, get out........and stay out!"
We need to have an escape plan at home so we can meet safely if there is ever a fire.
If any part of our clothing catches on fire we need to "stop, drop and roll."
Volunteer firefighters do not get paid for the hard work they do.
We should check and change the batteries in our smoke alarms at least every time we change our clocks for daylight saving.
